Back in 2021, our founder Dylan had a realisation: he was completely obsessed with finding great quality, refreshing drinks. The kind of beverages that make you stop mid-sip and think, “Wow, this hits different.”
What started as a personal mission to track down the best bevs from around Australia and the world turned into Hits Different, a proudly independently owned online drinks store, shipping Australia-wide.
But shipping drinks across a country the size of Australia comes with a catch. Drinks are heavy. Freight to Perth or Darwin costs real money, and that cost quietly decides what we’re able to stock. Plenty of great drinks never made the cut, not because they weren’t good enough, but because the maths of interstate freight said no.
So we built hitsdifferent.melbourne, a dedicated Victorian store, run by the same team, from the same obsession, with one very deliberate difference: when we’re only shipping within Victoria, the freight maths changes, and so does what we can put on the shelf.

Doing one thing locally changes the maths — and opens up the cooler.
A much wider range
Interstate freight is expensive, and heavy, bulky or low-margin drinks simply don’t survive the trip economically. Take that cost out of the equation and a whole category of drinks becomes viable — glass bottles, full cartons, multipacks, big-format and everyday staples.
It gets to you faster
Shorter distance, fewer hands, less time in transit. Victorian orders don’t cross a state line to reach you — they go out and they get there.
Better freight
A Victoria-only store means Victorian pricing reflects Victorian delivery, not the national average.
Better for bulky stuff
